Cataracts

Cataracts, side effect from Prednisone. When the lens of the eye thickens, becoming clouded or opaque, it becomes unable to focus or admit light properly. The eye condition is referred to as a cataract. Some causes of cataracts include aging, diabetes, exposure to radiation and the use of certain drugs, such as steroids. I think I developed cataracts from bening on prednisone for five years.

Occasionally, a cataract may swell and cause secondary glaucoma. It’s very important to have your eye check yearly, and sunglasses are a must.
